Post-Deployment Leave
Does it vary by branch? My Air Force DH says they don't actually get 2 weeks of "leave time" after deployment... they 2 weeks of CTO days which means we cant leave the local area. He could be misinformed, so does this sound accurate or is it just Air Force or what?
Either way... that blows. He also says he doesn't get Pre-Deployment leave. What the heck?

Yep it varies by branch. My DH is also AF. He is coming back rather soon and will get the two weeks right away. He has to stay within 8 hours of the base. This is different from his last deployment. We were stationed at another base and the "local area" was considered 6 hours. So I don't know if it's changed or if it varies by base. But yeah for the AF it sucks. No pre-deployment leave either.

K says he'll have a 40 day window to take post-deployment leave. I'm not sure how much he can or plans to take, at this point.
Also, one of my wifey's is an SO of someone in the Air Force & I'm pretty sure her DB got pre-deployment leave.

 . Looks like we did a lot of planning for nothing. I hate when he goes along with things before he "remembers" something that will cause it to not work. Why did he let me plan/help me plan a honeymoon for after deployment knowing its only CTO days. Oh well. On with life.

it varies, 3ID trys to give a 30 day block leave; doesn't mean you have to take the full 30 days its up to the military member and how many days of leave he or she has saved up.

Same happened here after my husband got back from deployment in May. He got his 2 weeks off afterwards, but had to stay within the "local area" of 6 hrs. Seeing as how his family's all in Michigan, we couldn't go there. So, he put in for 2 weeks leave the following month. That leave was unrestricted and he didn't have to stay within the "local area" : ) Your DH can try that
