Hey everyone,
First of all thank you for sharing all of your stories on here. It keeps me inspired to do what I do. I am a graduate student in my last year of a doctoral program in psychology. One of my main professional interests is helping veterans and their familes transition back to life on the home front. I was initially inspired to do this because of my father being a Vietnam/Dessert Storm vet and seeing how much my mother went through. It has continued to be a passion of mine because of all the wonderful veterans and families I have been working with for the past few years.
Now as I am finishing my schooling I am working on my dissertation. I decided to do my dissertation on the experience of partners of veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. My hope is that this research will help bring attention to some of the issues that are sometimes ignored and help to influence the development of services and care. I have been working on it for about a year now. It has been such a challenge because of approvals at my university and trying to get participants through government agencies etc. So far I have about 1/3 of what I need to complete the project. Originally, I was required to get a paper consent form which was hard because I want to reach partners all over the country. Recently, I lobied for an online consent process so that people could participate completely online and I got approval. So now I am trying to post the link to my survey to see if people would be willing to participate. It is a one time confidential survey that takes about 15-30 minutes. Most of the questions are multiple choice/yes no. If you would be interested in helping me out here it is:

Also, anyone who is interested in participating can email me at
ajj8@buffalo.edu with TARGET DRAWING in the subject line and contact information in the email and I will be drawing for 2 $100 Target gift cards when I have reached my goal of 200 participants.
I know this is super long, so thanks for taking the time to read it. I also wanted to say that if anyone has any questions about anything related to the study or not I would be happy to answer what I can. I know about some resources for partners, children, etc. and have been working with veterans off and on for about 5 years now. You can reach me at the same email
ajj8@buffalo.edu.
Thank you again!
