I don't know what to do for my husband. He has been home since spring and I think he has slept in the bed MAYBE 10 times! He sits up all night until like 1am and when he finally falls asleep he still has to get up at 0500 to get ready for work. He is always exhausted, I feel so bad for him. I also would love to have him sleep in the bed with me
To complicate the problem he had shoulder surgery which now makes it even harder for him to get good sleep and he sleeps in the recliner now. Did anyone else's solider come home with horrible sleep habits? What kind of things can we try to get him to be able to get a good nights sleep? |

Mine couldn't sleep either. He said he slept better in Iraq and would have nightmares back home. I remember waking up to him lying on his stomach, clutching the mattress, eyes wide open and screaming all sorts of ****. He didn't even see me there.

after df's first deployment he didnt sleep. and its even worse now. but when he gets home at a reasonable hour, and can sleep for at least 8 hours he takes a sleeping pill that he got at his eval. when coming home. and he sees a psych that keeps him on them |

Yeah, it was some scary **** the first time I woke up to him screaming like that. I was yelling his name and just asking what the hell was wrong with him, but he didn't see or hear me. I ended up sleeping on the couch and in the morning he didn't remember any of it. Then he used to have nightmares he would tell me about. They would range from bad nightmares to dreams about us being out shopping and him pushing the shopping cart and then looking down and it was full of missles or IEDs or whatever. He would get paranoid too sometimes, if we were out with friends he would sometimes start to look around like he was sizing up the place . . we were in a limo once and he did that and was looking out all the windows like he was watching for something. Our friends looked at me like "hey, what is going on with him" and I just told them to leave him alone. I should've known back then to get him help, but I didn't want to push him so I let him be. He wasn't open about it this time like he was the first time though. He also doesn't think there's anything wrong with him.
