Not sure about the army's post deployment leave.. the Navy offers standdown periods for the guys to take leave before deployment and after.. they're charged leave for that time off..

It isn't automatic. You have to request it and it takes it from your time. But, I do beleive you can go into the hole for that.

It depends on the command.
My husband is coming back from a fifteen month deployment (AD Army) and they are getting 40 days of block leave - about a month or so after they all get back. It has been whispered about that it will be free leave, but the official word is no and I personally don't think it will happen but I have heard that it does in some commands. My husband doesn't have that much leave and we want to save it up, so I think he'll work through most of block leave - which is still cool b/c he'll most likely have half days and not much to do since everyone else will be gone. So we'll still have lots of time together! HTH! Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but I really think its on a case by case basis. I'd check with your FRG or Rear D for more info.
