Not even the Army can shatter my spirit.

Now that DF is back from tour #3 in Iraq, he has some possibilities approaching. They're stressful but I'm excited at the various options we have.
First of all, DF has a PT test coming up next week that he thinks he's going to fail. If he does, he doesn't get any awards or re-enlistment until he passes it. If he fails it, he said they'll give him another in 90 days. I don't understand what he's so concerned about but he was in the worse mood ever today. I say, "oh well! Just try your hardest and stay positive about it." So... cross your fingers on that. Second of all, if he passes his PT, he's up for re-enlistment in October. He wants to sign up for another 6 years but is considering adding K9 to his schooling/skill set. I'm sure there is an Army term for this but I have no idea what it is. If he does go to K9, we'll probably lose our orders to Italy until we request them again later and instead get something stateside. If he doesn't go to K9, we'll probably keep our orders to italy and they'll be extended for a full 3 years rather than just the remainder of the enlistment he's serving right now. He's starting school in a few weeks too and has sort of been tossing the idea round to leave the Army at the end of this enlistment and just go to school full-time. We're 25 and will be 27 at the end of this enlistment. I told him to consider that carefully because I, for one, think that's the wrong idea to consider. Especially since we'll want to have a child in a year or two. I've been to College and I can see how hard it could be to school full time and work full time to support myself and a child. Yes, I of course will be working as soon as I am in one place long enough to hold a job, so we'd have dual incomes. But still. Why leave the Army when they'll pay for his schooling? Anyway... lots of options! Be ready for updates as they come!

to him on the PRTdiscuss how k9 will impact your orders (your dying to go to Italy, your not) how many years does he have in? he might want to consider using TA for school. it would take longer b/c of work demands, but in the interim, he'd have a secure job, medical and if you want a baby - they are not cheap and he could still finish school.

What is TA? He has 5.5 years in right now. I don't mind where we get orders to because there are pros and cons to all of the options. I'm just excited to see how everything plays out. I'm really nervous for him for this PT test though that he thinks he's going to fail. That's going to make or break our options for right now. I know he can take it again, but we had some financial stuff planned around his re-enlistment bonus that we were expecting in October.
