Recovering Alcoholics and Addicts

Who are you? I may be buzzed right now but I really can't drink anymore. I'm a ****ing alcoholic. Yes, this is a drunk post but I will definitely be sticking to it. Tomorrow is day one of sobriety. I hadn't had a drink since Thanksgiving but I had a bit tonight. I'm starting over. No more alcohol. Who is recovering as well? If you're willing to come out.

ETA: Those of us who are recovering we'll have to support each other. Please. Like encouraging emails and the like. We can be each others "sponsors" if you will. I know I'm going to need it. ya'll!

Now that I'm sober I'm still sticking to this. I can't drink anymore. I am an alcoholic.

My sister is an alcoholic. I am not, but I can be supportive if you need it! I have seen how hard it can be! I am an addict, just hit my 9 years sober on the first of May. I used to do meth.

Thank you. And that is awesome that you've been sober for 9 years. Maybe I should change it to recovering addicts. Everybody could use support.

I think so! I know there are times still that I get those cravings. Not NEARLY as strong as they were before, but that thought is still there once in a while. Right now I am quitting smoking (forced quitting starting today since we can't afford to buy anymore , but quitting none the less) and I think that quitting smoking is going to be harder than meth for me. Sad, but true. So, I am going through all of the beginning of quitting again!

I've been addicted to and quit meth, heroin and cocaine (smoked crack too). I've also been a heavy heavy drinker for many years, but I am slowly cutting that out completely too. I don't know dates, I have just gotten sick of being addicted to things so I just up and quit. It wasn't easy, but I can't let my life be ruled by something else my whole life. It's too depressing and bad.

You can do it! It'll be hard but I believe in you! I think it's absolutely amazing that you kicked the habit of meth and now you're quitting smoking. That's awesome! It may be harder, but I definitely do think you can do this.

It's just alcohol for me but it's still hard. I think it's wonderful you were able to quit all of those and that you're slowly cutting out alcohol. You can do it!

I'm still smoking, but I can quit that too when the time comes. I've cut down considerably since I've cut down on drinking.

The only reason I know the date is because it was exactly one year after my Grams died that I smoked for the last time. I actually quit doing it before that, a LOT closer to the actual date of her death, but I did smoke on the first anniversary of her death because I was so depressed and then got SO disgusted with myself that I never did it again. That's the only reason I remember. Otherwise I would totally be like you. I would have NO idea.

I feel the same way about addiction, and here I am quitting with tons of protest after 15 years of smoking off and on. WTH is wrong with me? Addiction is crazy.

BTW, you are awesome to me Jenny. I know all of the stuff you have been through and the drugs you have quit and I know how tough it can be. You's a strong cookie.

Awww, thank you! The hardest part for me will be talking on the phone. I am used to smoking and talking. That is one routine that will be HARD to break.
