MSC is going to start a blogging site for partners and spouses for servicemembers. We have been given www.sanchopress.com. We will be changing the name, of course. You can go look at it now but keep in mind the content is going to be wiped clean soon.
We are looking for spouses and partners interested in blogging. This is all non-profit, no ads or anything. There is one Editorial Contributor currently on Sancho Press, NamGuardianAngel, who is going to stay with us (Kathie Costas). She is married to a Vietnam Vet and she has devoted the past 20 years to raising awareness about PTSD. ANYWAY, we are expecting a slow start right now and in the brainstorming phase. I think we should have a range of stories--personal, fictional, humor, educational, awareness raising, political (all spectrums), etc. We would like to have Editorial Contributors for each. An Editorial Contributor is someone whose entry shows up, centered, on the main page automatically when people visit the site. All the other bloggers can create their own diaries which will be listed by title on the left (or right) as "new diaries" that visitors can click on to read and comment on and discuss. Editorial Contributors can of course write on other subjects other than their "main" subject. To start, I was thinking maybe one or two diaries a week. They don't have to be long (I was thinking of shooting for at least 250 words if it was the only diary for the week). You can also "cross-post" for other places. This is just how I am envisioning it right now. Also, writers can of course use pen names and remain anon. I want to encourage spouses to share info about their experiences with military bases, doctors, health care, housing, etc, so we can work on legislative actions maybe, later on down the road, or helping make positive changes. If you are interested, please email me at carissapicard@gmail.com. Take care, Carissa Picard Military Spouses for Change PS I got my job writing for military.com (I am a political correspondent for them) b/c my editor found my MSC blogspot and asked me if I would be interested in writing for them!
