How did you go about starting your own business?

    Classes?

How much did you spend on your start up equipment and what was it?

    Only answer what you wanna.

    Also, I'm accepting any tips!

I don't have a business only shoot for hobby but I do have a few friends who do have photography businesses. I think it depends on what line you want to get into, magazine, portraits, etc as to the equipment you will need. I know working at the photo Studios at walmart they will train you. A lot of my friends are self taught so they don't have degrees.

If you are just wanting to do family portraits outside or in homes, you could get away with starting with a good camera and editing soft wear, add more lenses and flashes as your business grows.

Must be closer to your area. There hasn't been one at our wal-mart in FL for at least 5yrs, and there aren't any at the wal-marts here....that I have seen. I remember them from way back when.

I just freelance. I have a facebook group and I have invited my friends. I haven't really gotten my name out while being here in Florida since I am more into doing pictures of sports. A facebook group is always a way to get your name out there..

I started out with a Canon Rebel XSI and bought a couple of lenses. Then I upgraded a few months ago and I love it!

My sister's friend uses a normal camera and she posts all of her pictures on this site...
