    Memory Cards

    Advertisements
Is there a difference on the quality of pictures with what memory card you are using?
I use a regular SDHC card but I've seen others like this one and I wonder if it actually makes a difference.

That one is for video cameras. Is that what you want? Or are you shooting regular stills?

I have tried a few brands and have never noticed a difference.

No... I don't think so. I think the difference comes in the size of the pic you took and the camera, or even the print program you use.

Never noticed a difference in quality of the pictures, although sometimes I'll have to wait longer in between pictures (the camera will say "busy"...I've missed good pictures that way) with memory cards that have a slower speed...or whatever it's called.

Some memory cards write images faster than others. A memory card is simply the storage device. A higher speed card can write images faster. If you're doing a lot of fast shooting (at fast pasted events, for instance), a higher speed card might be beneficial for you. But the memory card doesn't relate to the quality of the image.

What effects the quality of an image is the equipment you're using and simply whether you're using it correctly. My Nikon D700 is a full frame, VERY expensive camera, but if you don't know how to use it, you're bound to take poor quality photos. Not using the proper aperture and shutter speed, not focusing on the subject, not using the proper ISO...these will all contribute to a poor quality photo.

I didn't know memory cards had speed! The ones I own don't say anything about speed. How can I find that out?
