best place to looks is the website for the state leaving and going to and the airline you will be using to know what they require, but most require rabies vac within in the year and the health certificate no more than 10 days prior to travel which ensures they have an updated bortatella.

    It would be domestic.

Since we have to get rid of one of our animals and I'm having A LOT of trouble dealing with the thought of giving one away, my mom asked about shipping one home. (Hell, I'm crying just typing about it) It would be a cross country flight (from Nevada to Virginia), neither Dh or I would be able to go. So would a regular airline ship one or do I need to use a company that specializes in shipping pets?!

check the airline. continental is the BEST airline for flying pets places. they can't be sedated and you need a clean bill of health 10 days (no more than) before you fly. also if your dogs are pits they wont' fly them once they are older than 6 months

You should be able to send one on a regular airline. You would check the dog in and have paperwork stating that your mother would be receiving the dog for airport pick up at the destination.

Well, it would be a cat. Ashton's not gonna ship Brownie across country and then never see her except maybe once a year, so since we have 2 cats, I get to give up one. I'm not sure which cat exactly would be going, neither of them weigh more than 15 lbs, they both may be under 10 lbs. Would they fly in the cargo area?

Neither of us would be able to go with the cat. And my parents aren't planning on coming out here until Christmas, I don't think housing will cut us any slack with it.
