jogging with a dog

i wasn't sure if this should go in the health or pet forum so, i'm putting it here! move if you like!

have any of you jogged with a dog? my neighbors have a beagle and said i could take him on my jogs if i want. but i'm a little nervous, i've never jogged with a dog and i dont know if a beagle is a good dog to jog with. should i try?

I want to jog with our lab, but I gotta train her a little better because right now she pulls me on walks, so I'm afraid she'll take off on jogs and literally drag me.

I use to try to take my dog for a jogs but she s so hyper it doesn't work b/c she basically drags me behind her. I'll just opt for walks now...

Dh runs with our schnauzer mostly because she doesnt get distracted by stuff when she is running. our other dog sometimes gets distracted when she wants to smell something. I would first take the dog on a walk and see if its leash trained. while you are walking do some running just a few seconds at a time to see how he/she does while you are running. you should have your answer then.

I had a border collie and I LOVED running with her. She was a great companion especially since I hate going alone.

I've run with my Aunt and Uncle's chocolate lab before and she was a GREAT partner! She ran at my pace and never pulled me. Good luck running with the dog! Hope it works out for ya!

My dogs are too small to jog with me but I see people around here doing it all the time with all kinds of dogs, usually bigger dogs though. Everyone and thier mother has a dog or 2 here.

I have jogged with my old dog. Things to remember is make sure that the dog is in good health,is full grown (jogging with a young dog can damage their joints), and that the dog does well on a leash.

oh i tried, it didn't quite work out!!! he got scared when we made it to the busier street and he turned around and pulled full-speed back to the community! oh well.
