Roundworm?

Has anyone ever had a dog with roundworm? I think I just found one courtesy of my puppy

Worms are common.

TMI but I will tell ya what we used to tell our clients at the clinic I worked at....

Roundworm (long and stringy like spaghetti)
Tapeworm (short like rice)

Roundworm you can take the doggy in and get some treatment (we used strongid) usually takes a few doeses to clear

Tapeworm we gave an injection for (droncit)

Ohh and if it is tapeworm get some flea control. Tapeworm is from ingesting infected fleas. If you use frontline etc and nip that in the butt then you wont have to worry about that as much.

Yea it was like 4-5 in. and looked like spaghetti. Do you know if the stuff for it is expensive?

Its cheap. Just put in a call to your vet. They'll have ya come in, weigh the dog and then give ya the stuff. We used to give them in syringes (the strongid) and you squirt it into their mouth. Usually takes a few doeses to clear it up so we'd send people home with enough disages to get rid of it. I *think* we charged 3 bucks per dose. (this was in EVerett, wa at the clinic I worked at)

You'll notice an increase of the worms in the stool when you give the med. Thats just them flushing out. And make sure NO kisses on the lips etc. Humans CAN get roundworm from their animals. My brother got it from his cat licking his lips

You'll see it in your poopies as well And then you have to go to the Dr and get a pill for treatment.

Even if you dont visibly see worms, its good to have your pets treated. Hook worms can only be detected with a fecal test, and they can kill your pet.
