    Said Goodbye... Now Possibly, Hello?

    Advertisements
It's been several weeks, but as several of you probably know...
We said goodbye to Danny in mid-December. I don't think I've grieved the loss of a person the way I did this dog. He was with me for 13.5 years. I got him when I was in college and he was by far my longest and healthiest relationship.

We all took it very hard -- all of us.
It was the first time I saw my husband cry. Ever.
Moose, our other dog has been beyond depressed.
I have cried off and on since. I thought I was good, but at the stroke of midnight, the water works started when I realized that I was leaving Danny behind in 2016.

However. While passively looking online for a dog for my mother...
I ran across a sweet little face.
And I'm considering going to see him tonight.

I still feel a little raw, but his story was pretty compelling. And something is telling me to go meet him, so I think I'm going to.
If you could send me the Magic MSOS vibes that I do what is right for my heart and my family, I would greatly appreciate it.

So sorry to hear about Danny ... losing a pet is so hard.

Good luck tonight, I hope it goes well meeting the other dog and I am sure you will make a good decision for you and your family.

Remember, he gave you 13.5 years of love, but you gave him a lifetime of love and that's all he's ever known.

    aww thanks guys!

The meeting with the foster + puppy went well. (Meaning he got along with our other dog).
We are moving forward with the adoption process. The truth (without sounding too egotistical) is that I know my husband and I are really good dog owners.

And while I am still grieving the loss, and it's unthinkable that any person or animal could take Danny's place...
I like the idea of opening up our home to another little one who needs and deserves a happy life in a safe place. When I sat down on the floor, it didn't help that the little guy immediately climbed up and into my lap.

    Will keep you posted.

I am so sorry about Danny. I too have a pup that has been with me since college and she just turned 7 this past summer. Whenever I think about her getting older I tear up and have to do something else to avoid a meltdown.

I am sending you TONS of positive vibes that this new pup works out and that your adoption goes smoothly!
