    Bottle feeding kittens?

    Advertisements
Roommate's dad's cat had kittens and hasn't been seen in 3 days. He and I think a predator got her On the way I called the roomie and her DB to make sure they were ok with it. I went picked them up and we're home. I have them able to kinda drink the kitten milk from a shallow bowl, but the bottle. Ugh, I can't seem to get the nipple "just right" they can't get anything out of them. I have used a needle, a knife, and a fork in an attempt to get it (yes all them sterilized). I know they still the bottle, they're trying to get milk out of my fingers.

Other than this we're going pretty well considering. I loved their momma, she was so sweet and I feel like the least I can do is make sure her babies are taken care of.

Did you try an eye dropper so it's smaller?

I know when one of our cats wasn't feeding her kittens, we also ised a syringe. The eye dropper works, too.

DH: Thank you. ME: For what, babe? DH: For being you.

I was going to suggest a syringe from one of the baby medicine's or eye dropper. That's what we used for a while with a few of our kittens until they got the hang of the bottle and then drinking from a bowl.

The syringe and dropper are perfect. I've used both. What kind of formula are you using? There are a couple of brands that can be a bit pricey if you get the pre-made milk or you can use the powder mix. There's also a couple of really good goat's milk recipes that can save a lot of money! Bottle feeding every 2 hours for a few weeks is exhausting and pricey. Thanks for taking those cuties in and taking care of them!

Using powdered stuff I picked up at Petco, roomie will be home with eye dropper and baby wipes to get them cleaned up.
