I am so proud of Sabre! We have been working with him on dropping his balls to throw when we are playing with him. He used to snap them right back up or attempt a tug of war.

Last night not only did he drop the ball and back away so that I could toss it. 2-3 times he even dropped it directly into my hand. I am so happy to see some.positive change in him. It's amazing the little things I get excited over with him.

also he is starting behavior and training classes next week so I can't wait to see all the progress.

What's your secret to getting him to drop it? Mine will drop her toy, but it's just a trick. When you reach for it, she grabs it back up and moves it slightly farther away, unless you're really quick about it. If you reach real slowly, she'll pretend to not grab for it until your hand gets close, and then quickly moves it out of reach. It seems like she likes to tease.

We've just worked with it. We tell him.drop it and once he does we use a flat "stop" hand to ssay back and we push it towards him until he takes a step back and then we grab it and throw.it. if he lunges for it, or won't drop it, we just tell him okay "no play". So over the last few.weeks he had learned we won't play if he won't listen.

Congrats!! That's so awesome! I have to remind my girl too. She knows "Uh uh" means stop. Sometimes even after i say uh uh, she'll grab her toy, look at me, feel guilty, drop it, then look away. Lol.

Awww I do something similar with Lady. She's learned if she doesn't drop it we don't play.
