    Travel crates?

    Advertisements
Lady and I have been doing a fair bit of traveling lately between home and my mom's place we go to it's at least a once a month trip of not being home and lugging her crate is a PITA!! I've thought about a soft sided crate, not the pop up ones, but the more structured looking ones. My question for you lovely people is which do you find worth your money??

What sort of crate are you currently using - is it a metal collapsible or a hard plastic? Are you crating during travel (in the car) or is it for use in the house while you are there?

I have a metal crate I got from Tractor Supply with my last dog, it's a great crate just a pain to travel with. I just need something for in house. I've tried the cheap pop up ones from wal-mart she got her self across the room in it, so I need something with structure and looks like a crate.

How big is your dog? I have a soft sided crate that I will never use again!

What about it makes it a pain to travel with? What do you want from this new crate and what are you trying to avoid? Does it need to be a crate or could it be a playpen?

Has to be a crate she gets in the trash if she's not crated and for eating I need her to be able to be locked in it.

I don't think she'll fit in my carrier. I bought it to bring my puppy on the plane when I picked her up from the breeder. Its one of those airline ones that'll fit under the seat.

Don't Buy Soft Dog Crates Until You Read This Review!

I'd check that out. They have some good suggestions about soft sided crates.

Personally, I like a hard sided plastic crate. I think they are safe for the dog to ride in and not too heavy. At 30-35 lb, I would imagine she would fit in a medium (unless she is really tall).
