    What's that I hear????

As I was walking out to the barn this morning to let the chickens out to the run my ears were treated to the not-so-melodious first attempt at a crow My "baby boy" is growing up. He is getting SO handsome, too - I swear, his colors are getting prettier every day - I snapped this this morning (14 weeks). The orange "saddle feathers" coming in are new, and his head is getting so red - you should see him in the sunlight (it was cloudy today). I can't wait to see what the final product turns out to be. Poor guy is STILL nameless

And...........one of my girls decided to practice an "egg song" this morning.......I couldn't believe my ears. It may still be a few weeks before anything comes of it (16-24 weeks is average for the breeds I have now), but they are definitely starting to think about it

I call him "the dude" - everyone else just calls him Mr. Roo. I hesitate to name him because at one point I had suggested to DH that he name him - so I know if I do pick a name DH will suddenly remember that and have a name of his own, lol.

    - if only you knew the history of "Rusty"s in our lives -- DD went through a phase where EVERYTHING got named Rusty because Rusty was "her" horse (owned by a family friend/my co-worker who helped feed her passion for horses from the age of 2-5).

Ah, perhaps not rusty then I did the same thing when I was wee with the name Rupert , which was the name of the pony I rode at our local stables where I learnt to ride before we got our own horses.
