    Cancerous mass?

    Advertisements
My dog has a cancerous mass on her face. She is going to have it removed on Friday with an oncologist vet but they told me they really don't know how they're going to go about it yet because it's on her face right under her eye and there is no tissue there to help healing and she said they mostly like can't remove all of it because of the location. She has stitches in it where they cut out a piece to do a biopsy and she wants to scratch them so bad so she has a cone on and she just keeps whining. It's terrible.

Anyway, has anyone gone through this? Did you get radiation after? And did it help? I have no idea what I should do afterwards.

Shes getting old but I refuse to believe that

Awww - I'm sorry, Miriah. I have no advice but I hope they're able to get everything and she heals quickly.

What kind of cancer is it? That would really affect my decision for radiation. Also, did they discuss costs of radiation? The different types/protocols they use?

Yes we did. My normal vet gave me a referral for the oncology vet. She had some more extensive blood work and X-rays to make sure it wasn't any where else and then we had the consultation with the oncologist. And honestly I forgot what she called the mass. Some scientific term.. But it might be on her paperwork. They told me me it would be about 2200$ for radiation total. 870$ for the removal.

My cat had a cancerous tumor removed from her mammary chain last year. I know it's completely different but my inbox is always open for PMs if you'd like someone to talk to about it or anything else. I wish your dog a speedy recovery & that it they can completely remove it as well!
