Mason is in the hospital :(

Yesterday morning I let Mason outside to go to the bathroom while I got his breakfast ready. I heard what sounded like him choking so I ran back outside and found the poor pup throwing up which was the flowed by lots of very liquid diarrhea. He refused his breakfast and all of his toys and just went straight to his crate

I immediately took him to the vet and it turns out he was a lot sicker than I had initially thought. The poor guy was admitted overnight for dehydration and is in their quarantine area. This was him at the vet

The fact that I was even able to get a picture of him says a lot...normally he is busy running around the exam room sniffing everything and trying to find treats.

Keep him in your prayers! The vet said she would call me this morning with an update. Possibly home today or tomorrow.

The vet called! She said he is continuing to improve. He has not vomited since yesterday so they are switching him from Ampicillin to oral Metronidazole and stopping the IV fluids. He is still having some diarrhea but nothing compared to yesterday. They are going to watch him this morning and see how he does with breakfast and drinking fluids. If he is able to maintain his fluid status on his own then he will get to come home this afternoon!!

We had plans to go to Schutzhund tonight and on Saturday but I think we are going to hold off on that until he is all better. With the diarrhea I think it is probably best to keep him away from other dogs so that he doesn't get them sick as well. So no Schutzhund and no dog park for a few days.
