    blood/mucus in cat's stool...help?

    Advertisements
Recently, I've been noticing small blotches of blood on my bathroom floor, near the cat's litter box. At first, I thought nothing of it. But today, **tmi**, right after the cat used her litter box, she was dripping (not excessive, 2-3 spots) blotches of blood mixed with mucus all over the floor as she walked away. About a month ago, she had tapeworms. We gave her medication, and it went away.

I've never dealt with this before. She doesn't have diarrhea, and has been on the same food since she was taken to the shelter last september (we adopted her in february).

Should I take her to the vet? I just want my kitty to be okay

I'd give your vet a call first and see what they suggest. Hope she's okay!

I think you should take her. At least call and ask. My cat barfed some blood a while ago and the vet told me that if something bloody happens more than once, you should bring them in. (as a general rule for the future) the mucus sounds like she may have some sort of infection. Can you tell if it's happening when she poops or pees? I hope she's okay!

I'm assuming that it's when she poops. The reason I noticed is because her last bowel movement smelled really really bad, so I went in there to see what was up, and as she was walking out, I noticed the blood/mucus mixture dripping as she walked away. I tried to look when I was cleaning out the litter box, but couldn't really notice anything in her bowel movements because of all the litter that had already clumped to it.

Yeah, I would probably take her in just to be safe.
