    Tips for cleaning Lucy's ears???

    Advertisements
Lucy had a vet appt today for a rabies shot. I also had them clip her nails and clean her ears.
She had a tiiiiny bit of yeast in her ears so she got a script for ear cleaner and drops just to get rid of it before it starts.

Since DH left I have tried and tried to clean her ears. Doing it while she was sleepy and lazy on the couch, wrapping her in a blanket or sheet, etc. I can't do it by myself. She is way too strong for me and a beefy 42lbs. She turns into a bat outta hell when she even sees me holding the cleaner bottle.

Anyway. This new stuff I have to do every day, then put drops in. They said it isn't 100% necessary to clean it out with cotton balls but I should try anyways. She suggested doing it in the bath tub, which I will but Lucy is starting to be okay with baths and I don't need to torture her in the tub then have her pitch a fit next time she needs a bath.

And they wouldn't give me a seditive

So any tips?? I'm at a loss and I don't want her biting me out of anger/being scared.

She also won't let me do her nails but I can bring her to a groomer for that.

Also here are two pictures of the crazy brat.

I don't have any suggestions on how to do it since my dog is the laziest thing ever & just lays there. But she is adorable! I sure hope you guys are able to figure out a way to clean them easily. Yeasty ears are gross!

I'm waiting for her lazy Basset gene to kick in I hope it gets easier! If DH was home we could do it together but I have failed a million times. Thankfully he hasn't been gone too long so her ears aren't too bad. But still. I'm thinking about getting a muzzle to avoid getting bit.

If you absolutely can't do it with a cotton ball, I would just put them in and rub the ear a little bit.

Qtip? For the rest of the ear, not inside the ear canal (is that even what it's called?) I haven't had to use cleaning drops before.

They told me to do that too. She won't even let me go near her with the drops or cleaner.

Her ears are too big bassets have a double ear canal so it's like double big and double disgusting. I wish she would just be calm. She runs away from me and tries to bite me when I do it. And it doesn't help I can't stand ears.
I try to be calm and praise her for being a good girl and let her lick my face. To show her I'm not going to kill her but she's like "fuck this and you. I'm out"
Which is why the bathtub was suggested, small space and can't run away.
