SURPRISE!!! Look at what we found today.........

    Advertisements
Was sitting here this afternoon when I saw something out of the corner of my eye......not sure what it was, I went in for a closer look and then didn't believe my eyes......

It was really hard to see - blended right in with the piece of wood

Could it be - why yes it is.....a baby bristlenose pleco

This was one of the goals DD had set for her tank for this year's 4-H project

Caught one out in the plants and got a better look:

We've found five so far - moved two to the grow out tank where my baby rainbows are and will leave the rest in the community tank - snapped this while I was moving one of them

They'll grow up to look like this

Or this if we find some albinos or get them in the next spawn

Only the males get the bristles

I love Plecos! They're the coolest to watch.

Aren't they? DS has a common in his tank that is pushing 12 inches now and I am absolutely fascinated by him.

I love Plecos! They're really fun to watch. DH is obsessed with any and all marine life, so I'm pretty educated on the subject now

Totally agree - we only have one chocolate (to three albino) adults in both our tanks, so we are really hoping to get some good spawns with a good mix of colors. We both moved away from livebearers when we set up our new tanks and are looking to get our populations up and running and breeding so we can start feeding into the demand for good, quality, home-bred fish above and beyond guppies, etc.
