    wild baby mice?

    Advertisements
My husband just found 4 live baby mice all cuddled up to their passed Momma.

What do we do? I cannot just kill them, or let them suffer.
Right now we have them in a 5 gallon bucketaway from the kids.

    Help!

If there's any wildlife rehabilitators in your area, you could call and see about bringing them in. For now I'd try to put something warm in the bucket, that might make them feel safer and keep them from getting a chill. Maybe a heating pad wrapped in a dishrag? And make sure they have room to move away from it if it's too warm for them.

    Poor little guys.

Sometimes if you try calling local animal shelters, they have phone numbers for wildlife centers that might be able to help. Animal control might also have answers.
Poor little guys. I hope they do okay!

I am having a hard time finding any one who does wild life rehab in the area

I finally found a list, but it was for deer and birds.

    C.A.R.E in Evanston??

    C.A.R.E.- Wildlife Rescue Info

ETA: Shoot, I guess they're just referring you elsewhere. I'm guessing that this is the list you found: http://dnr.state.il.us/law3/Document...mitHolders.pdf
I'd contact folks on the list. They'll be able to point you in the right direction.

If he wants to end their misery, have him look up cervical dislocation. I've had to do that with baby birds that fell out of the nest and the rehabilitators told me it's the most humane way.

I hope it doesn't come to that though.

    they are gone.

We just could not justify driving an hour out of our way today. My mom is going to be here this week and we have to get the house ready. I feel like a horrible person.

Even worse, as dh was (finally) taking care of a bunch of piles of sticks, he found 3 more mice. I hate mice, they are destroying our garage, but I hate feeling like a killer

Wild mice don't care if they die.

I would set up traps since you have found more, or have an exterminator come out!
