    What's your pup's care routine?

    Advertisements
Today all of Sherlock's care stuff landed on the same day and he's having a big "Spa Day" Most of his stuff is once a week or so.

Made me wonder about everyone else's routines and if there is anything else I could or should add to his routine.

He rolls in disgusting crap outside all the time so he gets baths more often than I would like. I try to spot shampoo his disgustingness if I can. In a perfect world he would get apple cider vinegar rinses about once a week/every other week and a real shampoo and condition about once a month.

    Weekly (loosely) he gets:
    -bath/rinse
    -nail trim
    -penis hair trim ()
    -ears cleaned
-coconut oil rubbed into his coat and pads

    Daily/Every other day he gets:
    -teeth brushed
    -coat brushed

    What is your dog's routine?

Daily - everybody gets an all over body rub which enables me to check for bugs, bumps/ouchies, mats, etc and some loving time with the brush (they LOVE being brushed).
Weekly - ears are checked/cleaned as needed, nails are checked/trimmed

Bathing is done as needed - no set schedule. The boys get a bath when they get their haircuts and Z gets bathed when she needs it.

The same applies to the cats, minus the bathing.

My dogs get a daily once over to check for bugs, scratches, lumps etc. Weekly we brush them and I trim Lex's weenie hair. Every two weeks or so I dremel their nails, I get them really short so it takes about two weeks for them to get too long.

The only thing I do for Lex only is every 3-4 days an all over body message. He has hip dysplasia so it's important to stretch them out and message his shoulders and elbows.

    Bathing is done as needed.

He doesn't really have one. When something is gross, I fix whatever that is. We're making teeth brushing into a routine, but he doesn't really cooperate.

Have you found the coconut helps his coat and skin at all? Caesar has really dry skin that I've tried almost everything to help, and coconut oil is something that we always have on hand.

Daily Check for bugs, fleas, etc. We give the dogs coconut oil as well.

Give the dogs a bath in between the times they aren't at the groomers.

Every 2 months - Send the dogs to get groomed.

    Uh.

We feed him and take him to go potty.

There's no need to groom him he's a pretty low maintenance dog.
