    Where did that come from?

We found a big scratch on Lily's side today . It's about an inch and a half long and maybe a 1/8th inches wide but not very deep. It's completely scabbed over, no pus or redness around it so no infection but I'm a little unnerved that we missed something that big. I just don't know where she could have gotten it. Poor pup (not that she's had any ill affects).

Do you have another dog? My dogs sometimes get scratches, especially on their underbelly, from wrestling with each other (nails).

Yeah but the other one is super old so they don't really play. Also it's a horizontal scratch on the rib cage closer to her back bone than the belly.

Do you have a wire crate or something on your fence that broke?

We do have a wire fence around the garden that they ignore () and walk through. She might have gotten caught on that since she is a bit of a klutz and was probably going after a squirrel.

Do you have any kind of shrubs or bushes outside? Bella gets cuts like that sometimes because she LOVES to run Butters over and then dive into a bush to hide. If DH has done any trimming and there's sharp edges, sometimes it slices her up a bit. She's cut her lip and nose open doing that stunt too. God forbid she put one of her eyes out.
