Should I bring dog to vet?

    Advertisements
Off and on for the past 2-3 days my dog has had diarrhea. He's also had firmer poops but he's probably had diarrhea 5 times now. Today he hasn't eaten at all, won't even eat a treat. And he threw up when I took him for a small walk. Not sure if the throwing up is due to the heat or whatever is causing his diarrhea. I'm worried and want to take him to the vet, but DH says he's a dog and he'll be fine. Since DH gets out of the military in a few days he doesn't want to spend the money to take him to the vet for them to tell us it's nothing and will pass. I told DH if my dog doesn't eat tomorrow he's going to the vets and I don't care what DH says. Any ideas what this could be? He's a 2 year old australian shepherd/cattle dog mix. I haven't seen him eat anything he shouldn't. I'm just worried about him, he's like my child. And DH and I obviously have different views on this.

Diarrhea + not eating + throwing up? I say vet. I wouldn't want to take a risk on my baby's health

It's good that he is drinking as diarrhea can really dehydrate him. If he doesn't improve by tomorrow I would take him in though. I'm with you on that plan.

Yup. He could have a foreign body. He could have parvo. He could have a number of things that are quickly deadly. Dont mess with vomiting + diarrhea + lethargy.

You can also give him some canned pumpkin. It'll help balance out his digestive track.

I'd definitely take him in, just to be sure. Especially if he isn't acting himself...
