My poor sweet Puppy. :( {IMG included and TMI warning} .... Positive Update! :)

Denny(my 3 month old Shiba Inu puppy) is currently spending the night at an emergency vet clinic as they watch him, and wait to see if what they are seeing on X-rays approves/passes on it's own. He's doing okay right now, but they are stil keeping him to watch him after the day the poor little guy had today.. I'll explain how this came to be, and this will be kinda long.. It's been a long day to say the least.

Denny woke me up around 4am this morning crying, and I was thinking nothing of it. All that came to mind was "okay time to go out and potty." Well first thing I noticed was he had peed in his create. Which not a big deal, but it hasn't happened at all since getting him. I just shrugged it off as the poor littler guy just couldn't hold it any longer. Well then DH took him onside and he had diarrhea, but then was bouncing off the walls being himself. So I shrugged it off as possibly being caused by him stressing himself out in his kennel..

Then came the projectile vomiting with one huge pile of vomit after another. After the second time he vomited I knew it was time to go to the vet. Then after the 4th, and the 5th, and then the 6th back to back. With maybe at most a minute at most between each time he vomited. I flat out was not even going to try to wait for the vet to open, and rushed him to the nearest 24hr emergency vet clinic. On the way there alone, less than 6 minutes away, he vomited two more times all over himself and the carrier he was in...

Well they did x-rays and found an obstruction in the intestines, but couldn't for sure say what it was. Since they said it could be anything from something he ate. Which is very possible since he chews on the carpet, our shoes even as we are wearing them, and he tries to eat random crap like acorns outside. I try to catch it obviously, and pull things like carpet fibers out of his mouth every time. I even have made our house smell like a salad, because I've soaked every inch of flooring in vinegar. Due to it being the only thing (other than watching him obviously even though he'll try to do it right there in front of mine and DH's faces lol) that helps keep him from chewing on things...However, I'm sure some of the stuff he;s chewed on has gotten swallowed. Then it could be something like him having twisted intestines, but they couldn't tell for sure from the x-ray alone. They also didn't want to jump right into surgery obviously.

This is what they found for those curious, and they still aren't sure what it is exactly.(You can also see the gas pocket in his tummy that was likely formed thanks to all the vomiting Denny was doing. ) Even though he's been happy giving them a kisses. Showing good amounts of energy it's still there, BUT it has moved some and improved on it's own. Here's to hoping things keep looking good, and Little Denny can skip needing surgery.

As of right now they just know he seems to not vomiting anymore, and he held down water when they offered him just about an hour ago. Which mind you Denny has been there at the current Emergency clinic for well over 12 hours already. It's taken him this long just to start being where they feel he'd actually keep water down on his own. Since well like I said before then the poor little guy was vomiting like crazy. So much so all that was coming up by the point we finally got to the surgical center was his own stomach bile[We went to two separate emergency vets this morning. First one was kinda whole in the wall, but they were able to do blood work and x-rays. Then they referred us over to the surgical/veterinary specialist center about 20 minutes up the road from where we were. Which the whole time between car rides he was having large amounts of vomit just coming out randomly. All over me when I was holding him, all on himself, and well on everyone/everything in between.. I still just can't see how that little 7.8 pound puppy had so much come out of his tiny little body. .] .

I hope your little guy gets to feeling better. We had a similar situation with our boxer, but turned out whatever was in his stomach was a large bit of food, and the actual problem was coming from a testicular torsion. Hopefully you guys can avoid surgery and the recovery period that comes with it. Thinking of your furbaby.

Awww, poor little dude! I hope he's ok and has a quick recovery. You're such a great furmama and did all the right things getting him the help he needed. I'll keep my fingers crossed for him.

    Thanks ladies.

Part of what has been hard today has been trying to explain to DD her little friend is sick and won't be home for awhile. For sure at the very least he'll be gone till some time tomorrow afternoon, and she doesn't understand why her little buddy has to be gone so long for a "bad stomach ache."(Only thing I could think of to tell DD. To try and help her understand what is going on with Denny)

Poor thing! When we had a puppy a while ago, Sullivan, he was close to 5-6mos, I think, and he just ate stuff and it was hard to catch him sometimes. Well, one time, he ate a rock. We didn't know it until he stopped eating and was throwing up bile. He had to have the rock surgically removed from his intestines. The thing was a good inch round. My mother still has it in the baggie that the vet gave it back in because she said that she paid for it so she'll keep the damn thing. hope Denny passes whatever's in there on his own, though.
