    Sad Next Tuesday

    My babies are getting declawed.

We tried so hard to leave their claws, but Peewee has destroyed my couches. I feel guilty as hell that I didn't get it done a year ago when I got them fixed. Their recovery is going to be harder since they're adult cats now.

I told the receptionist that I refuse to bring them home without pain medication. Peekaboo was in agony for three days after her hysterectomy. I can't bear to watch them in pain again.

Oh I just feel like the worst MamaCat in the world.

Yes, I know. I want new couches when we go back in 2008. I just absolutely hate that they'll be in pain. I've never felt this bad about declawing in my life - I guess it's because for the first time these are MY cats, 100% MINE, and they depend on me and I'm going to be the one that does this to them and there's no way to explain to them that Mommy's reached the bottom of her rope and will rip their claws out with the pliers if they don't STOP!

Awww chica, you are a good cat mommy. Hey have you tried those claw covers? I keep hearing about them, these little plastic things that the vet can put on them to protect your furniture from their sharp claws, but they can still retract them without hurting them.
