Flea medication for kittens.
So I adopted a kitten on thursday from the SPCA. Naturally, she has fleas. Since she's 11 weeks old, I didn't put on any flea medicine because the packaging says 12 weeks and up. However, I did do some research and the general consensus was to give the kitten a bath with dawn dish soap. I did this on thursday night and It got rid of the majority of adult fleas, and I subsequently vacuumed every square inch of my apartment and washed all my towels and linens. Yesterday I went back to the shelter to see the vet because her eye was a bit goopy. They gave me some stuff to put on it but also said that it would be fine to start using the topical flea stuff. Now since it says not to use on kittens under 12 weeks, I haven't so far. I don't know whether to listen to the vet or to the instructions on the box lol. Suggestions?

I would listen to the vet! Just make sure you follow the application directions on the box because if you give the cat too much you can make it very sick and even kill it. Also most flea medications dont kill the adult fleas, it will kill the eggs but adult fleas only live for 24-48 hours so they will die just not right away! Congrats on your new kitty and GL!
