Hedgehog owners? ETA: cute baby pic!!! - Pet Pad

Sooo I really wanted to get a kitty, but DF does not like them.

So instead of a kitty, he said he would not mind a hedgehog (weird compromise, I know

.) I've been doing a lot of research on their care, etc, but wanted to hear from anyone who did/does own a hedgehog. Any general info, advice, or thoughts would be appreciated.

I am not one to get a new type of pet without knowing a lot about it first!

I have had almost every other kind of pet you can imagine, so I definitely have a ton of pet experience, I have just never had a hedgehog. TIA!

you can have hedgehogs as pets? i thought they were considered wildlife.

Nope, they are actually quite popular and legal (maybe it is a state thing?) I have even found several breeders in my area.

hey, i had one as a kid, we kept it in a giant plastic tub kind of thing, and had woodchips for its bedding. we also had a lincoln log house for her where she ended up hiding a lot as she got older (she lived about five years). we also had a wheel like for hamsters but had to put duct tape on it, so she wouldnt fall through. really fun to have , playful sometimes, and cute

We had one, well my sister did. The only problem we ever had was it was nocturnal and she kept it in her room so at night it got really loud. They are super cute though, not much different from a hamster, in alot of ways. There is quite abit of maintenance again it might of just been our but it tore everything up.
