My dogs always act a little mopey when DH leaves, but they always remember him when he comes home. I think the puppy training is a great idea.

My dog moped around when DH was at basic and AIT. He definitely remembered DH when they were re-united too
He wasn't aggressive with me though, he actually got clingy to me, and started acting out if I left him home alone for any reason.Dog training is a good idea, it will help the two of you develop a bond of your own

I did puppy classes with my little guy (we got him right around the time DH left). We also gave him a shirt that smelled like DH (he carried it around CONSTANTLY). SO CUTE! The classes helped a LOT. He remembered DH when he came home, but he really had to be firm with the pup so that he remembered that DH was above him in the "pack". KWIM?

My puppy stopped eating for a few days when DB left for S.E.R.E. She would think that she hears his car beeping outside and run to the door and wait for him
As far as behavior, she wouldn't listen to me much (but that's also because I'm so easy on her anyways) You should try to take your pup out to play and on long walks as much as possible to tire it out and hopefully it will cut back on some aggression.
