Leaving all day tomorrow and stressed out (help pet owners).

I have training for my new job all day tomorrow and the next, and it's in Tukwila. David will be at work and we've never left the dogs alone for such a long stretch of time yet. I'm SO nervous, I don't know what to do! I guess I'm going to put them in the garage and Debbie in her kennel in the garage, with their kongs and treats and food and water.... (Debbie is the one who destroys stuff, Buddy is fine not in a kennel), but does anyone have any extra tips? I feel terrible for leaving them home alone for what is probably going to be about ten hours.

I'm no help I have noooo problem leaving my dogs in the kennel all day. my mom leaves her 2 dogs outside all day while they are at work. they do fine. I know thats not an option for you, maybe walk them before you leave for training.

    I will miss you SOS...
Please be wary of what you post remember OPSEC is not just another acronym.

when i have to leave sophie alone for long periods of time, leaving the TV on really does work (at least for me). it seems to calm her down. during the day, i'm at work all day so she stays in her crate with the tv on.

tough to say what exactly will work for you, but kong is a good way to go cause it usually keeps them occupied for a while. i've heard that if you freeze peanutbutter in them overnight, it keeps them occupied for a super long time. however, i've never tried it

They will be fine! Do you crate them when you sleep? probolly about the same...

my bff crates her weimerainers... they see thier crates as "safe"
If they get scared, they run to thier crates. It's cute.

They should be fine. Just give them things to do, they will probably sleep anyway.

Leave lots of toys that promote thinking for your dogs. The toys that make a dog work for a treat are good to keep them active. I leave soothing music on. I limit her water when I'm gone longer hours so she doesn't have to pee that much. I also crate my dog...she loves her safe place.

OK, I just don't like leaving them home alone all day, it may seem stupid, but I just like someone to be with them. I feel like it's akin to taking my kids to day care for the first time. I'm nervous about it.

Do you have a neighbor or friend that is willing to take them out maybe once while you're gone? That always helps.

When I had my dog we would leave the radio or tv on for him.
