    Screwy Birthday cake for pets?

    Advertisements
Anyone ever made one? My cat and dog both turn one this month and I want to make a cake for each of them.
    Any suggestions/recipes?

I made a cake for my Bruski's 1st Birthday ... I found a recipe online that took actual canned dog food and flour and you baked it (I DO NO RECOMMEND ) The smell was awful, DH was not too happy to wake up to the aroma of Alpo in the Oven. I should have thought about it before hand, Lol.

Oh well, but I topped it off with some yogurt and cottage cheese as frosting, I cut the letters out of sliced cheese and crumbled up some colored dog treats to sprinkle on top. They dogs loved it!!

(Sorry the pics are so big)

I make this one for my kids....I use cream cheese and peanut butter as the frosting.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Ingredients:

    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    2/3 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 jar of strained beef baby food
    3 large eggs
    1/2 cup bacon bits
    Directions:

Stir flour and baking powder together in a mixing bowl.
Cream together the butter, oil, baby food and eggs.
Mix dry ingredients with the wet mix, and then stir in the bacon bits.
Pour into a greased and floured 8" x 8" baking pan.
If desired, sprinkle a light layer of bacon bits on top as a frosting substitute.
Bake in a 350 degree F oven for approximately 35-40 minutes or until the center of the cake springs back when lightly poked. Oven times may vary.
