    Flying with a 40lb dog

Does anyone know which airlines or a way for someone to take a 40lbs dog out of the Country? I have called two airlines so far and both of them have a maximum weigh of 20 pounds.

i want to say we used delta....I THINK....our dog katie was well over 50 lbs...she had to go on a cargo plane and we had to pick her up and drop her off at the airport or at least have someone do it for us...

I think Delta is what we shipped my brother's dog. He is well over 100lbs so he had to go cargo. But we also didn't ship him out of the country.

It's for my brother and they are going to Puerto Rico. I've called Spirit & Jet Blue cause they fly there. I'll have to check Delta and see if they still fly to PR too.
Every airline I've called only takes in cabin pets and they need to fit under the seat, suuuure! a 40+pound boxer under the seat
    Thanks!!!

I just checked Delta's website and they wont take any pets on cargo during summer due to temperatures.
I have no idea what other options they have

you can get around the temps I think by a vet note...but if it is the height of the season it may be really difficult

we had to find a way around the temp requirments for both of our dogs who flew from HI to Fl just a few weeks ago. The temp in ANY of their stops could not be above 75degrees. We used Continental cargo for our boxer and American Cargo for our bulldog...Continental wont take bullies. Anyway, the ticket counter worked with us on finding the days where temps would be below 75...meaning they had to leave at night, layover(which we paid a kenneling fee for) and then fly out again and arrive at night.
You kinda just got play around with dates, temps, and the cargo ticket counter is usually very helpful.
