    oh & get this...he tried marking his crate today from the outside. i caught him first thing & hustled him outside.

    i've had the door open all day so he's been mostly outside while i'm doing laundry & housecleaning.

    i noticed him pee w/o lifting his leg once today. makes me wanna get a canine behavior book. do you have any insight? is that a more submissive thing? i presume so.

    No, it's not really a submissive thing some dogs never pee standing unless they are marking. Dogs mark a vertical surface because the scent supposedly last longer and it's at nose level.
