You can't teach an old dog new tricks...

So what are all the tricks to teach your puppy?! What tricks does your dog know, which are the most useful, etc?

I'm trying to teach Diesel everything I can think of even down to the silly stuff just so he'll know it now and I wont regret not teaching him something later.

    So far he knows:
    "Go potty"
    "Sit"
    "Shake"
    "Drop it"
    "Kisses"
    "Crate"

    He kind of knows:
    "Come"
    "Lay down"
"Quiet" (for him to stop barking but its not working out so well because dh always gets paranoid that the neighbors will complain when he barks so he runs over at starts playing with him )

We're going to start working on:
    "Stay"
    "Roll over"

Also, how do you get the dog to do what you say when you say it, not just when he wants to do it? Diesel knows the top list perfectly if you have a treat in your hand. He can do any of them without hesitation. But if no treat is involved he will only listen if he feels like it. I just don't know how to get him to do it with no treat. He gets praised VERY enthusiastically but that doesn't seem like enough sometimes

Otis just graduated from Beginners Puppy training. He can sit, stay (and do other paw, I taught him that all by myself), lay down, fetch, leave it, come when called, and "watch."

We are starting his Click a Trick training next weekend, where he'll learn about 20 other tricks.

Awaiting the arrival of baby Andrew

I never used treats to train my dogs. I trained them on praise. So they were never expecting a treat out of it.

He'll probably start doing it without treats after a while.

My dogs know all of those commands and they just do them when I tell them to. But my dogs are 2 years old and 11 months old

    OK here we go

    Sit
    stay
    lay
    off(couch or bed)
go to bed(runs and lays under our bed)
    kennel
    high five
    shake
    drop
    heel
    come
    touch(jumps to touch hand)
    howl
    cuddle
    throw(will throw her own toy)

she's three now so I think we are done unless I think of something new.
