A Reminder for Those With Pools and Pups

    Advertisements
My dad and I were just talking about this and I just wanted to put out a reminder. If you have puppies of any age in your house and they have access to a pool please remember to teach them how to get out if they fall in My dad lost a puppy as a boy due to this (it has haunted him ever since). His pup was outside for no more then 5/10 minutes, fell in, and drowned you could see where he was trying to claw his way out but wasn't strong enough. Most dogs can't get them selves out of a pool, will eventually become exhausted and drown. We teach all of our dogs where the steps are just in case (we are actually having a fence built so they can't even get to the pool)

We bring them in the pool with us and right away lead them to the steps. We do this over and over again. Then we tie a rope to their collar and put them in the pool and guide them to the steps. Eventually we put them in the pool and they take them selves to the steps. It takes patience and time but could save your dogs life one day

Also keep in mind that pool covers can be extreme hazard.

    HAPPY SWIMMING!

I don't have a pool, but I got Ellie swim lessons. Everyone laughed at me, but you never know and it's best to be prepared.

My parents lost 2 of their tortoises from pool drowning. One of their dogs wont go remotely near the pool but the other will swim all day long then get out and shake right next to you.
