    Kitty spayed (another ?)

    Advertisements
I just got my cat from the vet and have some questions!
How do I keep her from pulling at the stitches? She insists on messing with them.
And also she cries when she gets up off the floor. I think she got an IV in her leg. Is that normal?
    TIA!

They didn't give you a cone for her head?

Nope. I expected one, but I guess they thought it'd be fine.

The crying thing might just be her being sore. It might be a little tender for her to get up off the floor and use those muscles that just got cut. Did they give her any meds?

They did not give her a buster collar? She is going to be sore and you can expect her to be a little whiney. Does she have pain meds or did they give them to her after the spay?

You can get her a cone at Petsmart, or call your vet and request one....tell them she's pulling at her stitches. If she opens them up, you have to take her in to get her re-sewn and that'll be a pretty penny, not to mention, not fun for her.

I'm not sure. I didn't ask, but I didn't get any to bring home or anything.

Ok...so you either need to call them and get one or go to the pet store and pick one up. They have soft ones now but it's not good for a cat because they are so flexible. She probably needs one if she is messing with the stitches.

She may have gotten them after the spay, but I'm not sure.

Hmm they should have given her something.....some sort of anti-inflammatory or something. I think we usually sent home metacam if I'm not mistaken....which I could be, but it seems odd that she didn't get any meds at all. I'd call your vet or another vet.......
