    Duh Cat in heat?

    Advertisements
    I think mine is.
I kept putting off getting her fixed and now I'm seriously regretting it. She's been doing this yowling thing day and night for a few days now. Also been licking her nether regions more often.
Does that sound like a cat in heat?
Before all this started I made an appt. for next Tuesday to get her fixed. Would I still be able to get it done then?
    TIA!

There's a video of what she's been doing.

It is pretty cute, but not so much when I'm trying to sleep.

Call your vet - most vets will charge an additional fee for alteration during a heat cycle, and that is only if they will do it at all. There are added risks to the surgery when the cat is in heat.

    All right, thanks!
How long does a cat stay in heat for?

The calling/active seeking of mating can last anywhere from 4-10 days (I, personally, have never had it last upwards of 5-6 in the cats I have been around). If she does not mate, she will likely go back into heat in 3-5 weeks.

I hope she is done soon. It's been going on for about 3 days now so if all goes well she'll be done before the appt.
So if the calling quits she's done right?

Good Luck with her being over "being in heat" soon.

It seems like my cats are in heat all the time. I have two and at times it can drive you nuts. Like you said, Definitely when you are trying to sleep.

Last night, when me and DH went to bed (it was late), and the cat wouldn't shut up. I felt like throwing something at her to get her to leave our room. But I didn't. I just yelled at her and told her to shut up or get out. LOL
