    Dog Meds online

    Advertisements
Does anyone buy flea and tick medication online??

I want to know if it's cheaper and easy. I was thinking about buying Meesha's meds online instead of going to the German vet all the time for refills. Also, what site do you use? Any help would be great.

    Will you tell me why?

Not trying to be snarky, I really just want to know if it's a bad idea or good idea. I've never done it before, so if there is something I need to know about it, I'd like to know

I have, from reputable sites and I see it much like buying contact lenses online. Same product as I could get from the vet, but cheaper. My vet was aware of this, as well, and never voiced any concerns.

Try 1800petmeds, I've heard good things about them. I've never purchased any pet meds or anything of the sort online, but only because I never had to. I got a clinic discount so I just bought all my stuff there.

Sure! There is another thread about this somewhere..... Anyway, the manufactures such as Pfizer, Meriel etc. do NOT sell to on line pharmacies for pets. They also do not sell to pet stores. They only sell to LICENSED VETS. Therefore, the products you are purchasing are not always what they seem to be.

Also the manufactures will not guarantee the care of your pet if they get anything that is supposed to be taken care of from the meds (i.e. heart worm) if you buy it on line.

For example, you buy Revolution from your vet, Pfizer will pay up wards of $5K for the treatment of your dog if your dog gets heart worm and you can prove from the vet records that you have been treating every month. If you buy from 1800 Pet Meds etc. they will not pay if your dog gets heart worm.

Additionally, the FDA does not regulate any on line pharmacy that is not a VIPPS pharmacy. Right now that is only pharmacies that carry human medications.

    http://www.fda.gov/consumer/updates/...line121407.pdf

Speak with your vet, a lot of times they do price match with the on line pharmacies.

ETA - If you choose to buy the products on line it's totally up to you. The information above is just that, information to help you make a decision on what you feel is right for you and your pet. For me, it's not worth the $20 a year I would save on pet meds to risk them not getting what they should be or worse dying from something the meds are supposed to be preventing.
