    kitty owners- behavior question!

    Advertisements
my little girl kitty, mari, is acting odd today. she normally has the sweetest disposition ever, is very cuddly and never scratches anything but our couches. today she scratched my boob trying to get down, which was weird because she usually meows to be held in the mornings. then tonight when i got home and i tried to pet her tummy like she loves, and she started clawing my fingers and tried to bite me. my hands have claw marks on them! the only time she has EVER clawed me was when i tried to move her out in the rain to scare her away from escaping outside (she had gotten out the door again, she never gets far because we always see her and chase her).

i don't understand. then when i clipped her nails she growled at me.

why does it seem like she suddenly doesn't trust me?

yes. but she also attacked vengeance's tail, who doesn't usually care because he's really laid back, and he hissed at her, which he hasn't done in a year. they only play fight and it never gets heated. so that's odd too. but vengeance is still being nice to us.

I've heard that when they start to get old, they can change temperaments. Also, if they aren't spayed/neutered, then they can change on a dime.

She may have something going on with her medically or may have had something traumatizing (to her - heaven knows the things cats find to be traumatizing)happen to her.

I agree, any little thing can make them stress out. Has there been any change in your house lately? Any change on your guys?

I would take her in and make sure she is medically ok. I worked at a vet clinic for a while and there was this cat that was always affectionate. Then one day total 180. Biting, hissing, anytime I touched her she freaked. Turns out she had worms AND feline lukemia. Poor thing
