    Help Small pets?

    Advertisements
I've been considering a 'small pet' for a few weeks now, and I've finally decided to go for it.

My question is from personal experience, what 'small pets' were your favorite? I've had two pet rats who were darling, and a mouse which, well, wasn't what I'd call 'pet material'.

Any suggestions to what I should get? Nothing too high maintenance, perhaps a type of hamster?

    TIA!

    Guinea pigs.

ETA: If you go with a hamster, get a teddy bear one. They are SO sweet.

Rats or guinea pigs. Maybe a ferret, chinchilla, sugar glider. (although they are considered "exotic" and may not be allowed in housing)

Thank you guys for the quick answers!

I am renting a house that allows animals, so I'm lucky in that aspect. I have heard very good things about sugar gliders as well. I am thinking about going to the pet store and having them explain the different aspects of the critters.

    I'm so excited

We have Chinese Dwarf hamsters and they're pretty entertaining!

and (LOL) the thing I like the best about them... is the boy's balls don't obnoxiously hang down like all the other male hamsters... they're a little more discrete.

    No horndog hamsters, check.

Ooooooooh, I had one of those. I almost forgot! They're a little more expensive than most other small pets but they are so worth it.
