    Sad completely freaking out

I am SO careful with my medications... I know my dogs can get into anything, and I keep everything away from them.

But I get out of the shower today, and there's a pill bottle, chewed open, and empty, in the middle of the floor.

My baby ate about 7-8 miligrams of Kilinopin... she's at the vet, with my other pup (in case he ate any, which we dont think he did). Luckily I got her immediately to the vet, they induced vomiting, and some of the pills came up... but I'm so scared and I feel SO guilty. I mean, the bottle was in my pocket book, hung up on a coat rack, but she climbed on the couch and got in.

Please, prayers and good thoughts that both my pups are okay...

I am soo sorry. and dont feel it is your fault. I would not expect my dog to pull my bag off the coat rack and eat my pills.

I know the pup will be fine.

... I'm sure he'll be fine... especially since his belly was pumped.

My pup ate a bag of chocolate kisses one day... and she turned out just fine.

You did the right thing getting them straight to the vet, they should be OK. Your not a bad puppy mom, even the best of us has little buggers that get into stuff they shouldn't. Keep us updated.

ETA...how big is your dog? That drug is given to dogs for seizure related disorders at about .25 mg per pound.

Really? She's 30 lbs... and they got her to throw up about 3-4 miligrams... but she was LOOPY- like totally drugged up... my little one is only 10lbs, so thank God he didn't get any.

She will be loopy and may suffer some side effects. The .25 mg is varied...it can be as little as .05mg (every 8 hours) but the size of the dog really has an effect on how they can process an overdose. If she took 8 miligrams and they got her to vomit 4 miligrams she still is in overdose because of the amount left in her system even if she was given the highest level.

Well- both pups are home. The vet said it should all pretty much be flushed outta her system, she seems to be acting normal. Thanks for the good thoughts.
