Our delegate got back from the meeting...

Dog registration is down 12% for the year and litters are down 11%.

They are also considering letting mix breed dogs register to do performance only events.

They also changed a bunch of stuff that I dont think would interest you LOL

I don't agree with the mixed breed dogs....it ruins the integrity of having an AKC dog. KWIM?

I have a question. Sirago has AKC papers (that I STILL haven't sent in, I need to do that because I'll be charged a late fee to do it after January 3rd ) what are the benefits of paying and submitting the application if we are going to neuter him? I mean, does it really mean anything in that case? Other than we'll be able to say we have an AKC registered Lab?

I think he would like agility. But I mean we haven't started any agility training with him or anything, and who knows, he may not be interested in it. Basically if I think there is any chance somewhere down the road that we might get him into it then I should definitely fill out the paperwork and send it in now vs. having to pay a lot extra when he's older?

ETA: I also don't know much about the AKC and what they do beyond shows really.
