Has anyone ever had one before?

We are looking into getting a mini. I have always loved them! I think it would be the perfect little dog to have in an apartment. I know they are good with kids, and since Taylor is getting bigger it won't be a problem.

I found some ads in the paper for puppies, so I'm going to call around tomorrow. Is there anything specific I should ask? Look for? I've never had a dog before, just worked with them so getting one of my own is new to me.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

We had a mini and she was wonderful! We cried when we had to give her away. We couldn't take her to SD with us. They are such good dogs. They have such a deep bark for a little dog. Also, they have sweet personalities. I know when we move from here, we are getting a mini doxie again. Also, Bill isn't much of a "little dog" fan, but he just adored her! He wants to have another mini doxie.

Also, we never had any trouble with her. She never destroyed our home, furniture, and she wasn't a digger. They normally aren't "diggers".

A friend of mine has one, and she said she can be a digger, but it's always in the same spot and they just let her do it then cover it up once in a while. She loooves her little bed though, and always snuggles down under the covers. We don't have a yard yet, so I'm not really worried about it destroying anything outside. Inside the house is another story though...

If we get one, what should I look for? How do you know if they are healthy? Should I only go for the registered ones?

    I love them too!!!
I want a Dapple colored long haired soooo bad!!!
Josh said as soon as we get married and settled in I can get one... as long as they aren't $800 like they were at the pet store in Jax. Pet stores are outragous! I prefer a breeder myself... I feel like they are cared for more coming from a breeder.
I will settle for not a dapple even though there are my favorite coloring. . . just gorgeous! And I want a mini also!
    GOOD LUCK MICHELLE!!!!!!

The ones I am looking at in the paper are only around $200-$300. I thought that was pretty good for a pure breed!
