Ok so at the moment this is a very tentative idea and im putting this out there to see what people think .........
The other day at work I had a bit of weird experience -I was looking at the new work of one of the photographers I worked with in NY - he is my idol and I truly respect and adore his work. He's a war correspondant/photojournalist and it seems he's just done a new project on Landsthul (the military hospital here in Germany) Heres his link : *WARNING * - DISTRESSING IMAGES * - but it explains why I want to do something. http://www.viiphoto.com/showstory.php?nID=760 I dont know wether because of Ryan, moving to a military base in Germany or because I know this photographer - i just feel like I want to do something to help and I was thinking maybe it could be a huge collaboration. I plan on running the NY marathon - the year we get sent stateside (should be Nov 2010) and I want to raise money for injured troops and their families - I was thinking maybe we could get a group of SOS people and to do it as a group! we all come together from different states and countries and have a huge collaberation with SOS and Vii agency (the agency was set up by war photojournalists and i am friends with the head of the Paris office - i really feel i could get them behind us on this!) Both Me and Tallblondie are in - but i wanted to throw it out there and see if anybody else would want to do this??? I really feel this is important - and obviously as i will be a SAHW in Germany im gonna have the time and focus to do this. Does anybody else want to do this??? have ideas about raising money etc?? what do you guys think?? |

Damn I totally would even though I'm not the marathon type but that will be right after when DH gets home from another deployment
Let me know if I can help in any other way though!

It sounds like a great idea, for those that can do a marathon. Even though it's over a year away not all will have the ability to train for a marathon and/or the money to travel to New York.
I have a few suggestions, that may help raise more funds for this organization. For those that can make it to the NY MARATHON ~ great keep it as is. For others consider raising funds doing other runs at a shorter distance ~ local to each person. Have ALL the money go to the SAME GROUP {need non profit #} ~ from MSOS RUNNERS {or some other name} Set a time frame for when events need to be completed. Taking into consideration what people are doing events and where. I can let you know the Honolulu Marathon is generally the second week of December. While the Great Aloha Run {8.15 miles} is always on President's Day. {There are several events on the island of Oahu but these are the most popular.} HTH
