PAWS?

My 4.5 year old started getting an allowance 2 weeks ago. She currently gets 4 dollars, plus a $1 bonus if her room is clean everynight before bed. She is required to put 10% in a piggy bank for Savings, and 10% in a piggie bank for charity. On her birthday she gets a $1 raise, and we are going to open her a bank account. At that time I'd like to take what she's saved for charity and bring it somewhere, where she can phsyically see what it is she's helping. We are also hoping to incorporate a service project with it.

I found an organization here in San Diego that does Petfood and supply donations to elderly that allows them to keep their pets. I figured i'd throw it out there to see if anyone would like to join us in our adventure? I plan on taking donations from a few people at work, so hopefully we can get a few bags of food, and help a few different people out.

awww you're adorable and i think it's great that you're teaching k money management (savings and charity). i wish someone would teach me that even now....

I'm trying to teach her all the things that me and Timothy's parents didn't teach us, that we had to learn by trial and error.

Hopefully it works cause I'm sure Timothy and I will need to borrow some money from her one day =)

i love that idea. i totally will remember to do that for our kids (when we have them), but instead of charity it will be church. (just our beliefs, i definitely support charities as well). what an awesome idea!

She's got 1.50 in savings so far! Watch out! She'll be a millionare in NO time

(i keep finding random $1s around the house though.. She's earned $12 as spending money so far, and she's spread it amongst all her wallets... I need to go through and count it tonight to make sure she still has it all.. lol )

I'm thinking of having her save it for Disney Land (she might be able to afford a lollipop or something ) She's suppose to use it for the little things she wants when we go to the store - candy at check out, barbies.. whateva.. heh We are going to Sea World on Sunday so i'll probably make her pay for her lollipop that she insists on having as we are leaving the park. (ya know, the giant swirly ones that are bigger than your head..)
