Operation MilitarySOS: Holiday Help-Sending cards to troops (all areas)
Every year, the lovely Shaky collects blank cards to give to the men and women who are deployed or overseas. They get sent out to the ships mid-November, so that all the men and women can send cards home to friends, families and loved ones during the holidays.
In order to get even more help, we have decided to post this already. To help a bit more, I was thinking that for those interested, you could write out cards as well to anonymous military members, and then those that are lonely or don't get gifts on the holidays could get cards saying how much they are appreciated. So we need four different things: 1. Boxes of blank cards. Check dollar stores, clearance racks, Ross, etc. Each year I buy about 10-15 boxes on clearance for 90% off from Walmart & Target after the season is over). 2. Stamps for the men and women to send the cards with. 3. Cards written to anonymous troops. If you wish to do this, please try to be vague with sex and branch of the military, so they can easily be dispersed. Also please try to keep them non-religious so as not to offend. 4. If you can't help out in any of the above ways, you can help with the shipping costs of these boxes. The materials for the kits are free from the USPS, so it will only be the shipping. That will vary depending on how many packages go out and where they go to and will be determined at a later date. We will be finding different commands from more senior members (only to make sure the good deed is distributed appropriately) and then mailing all of the supplies we gather out in mid-November. If you would like to help or have questions, either post them here or start collecting cards!

I think I might actually sign up to help with this one. It is going to depend on how busy I am after we get moved and everything since Jason won't be around, but I am positive that I can find at least a little bit of time to help out some.

To answer some questions, we are going to picking some spouses, and we will have their husbands distribute the cards. Depending on the situations, we will be shipping some boxes and we will also be taking some boxes to ships right before they deploy. I will be collecting some and I believe Shakers is going to too. Depending on how many cards are collecting, that is when we may or may not be asking for help with shipping.
As many stamps as you can afford is great. If you have leftover 1 and 2 cent stamps those are great too! Anyone can PM me for my address and I will be collecting the items until early-mid November. Miss Shaky (her screen name is "Shaky") is also collecting--she is on the east coast and I'm west coast. If you are in a local area, you can probably just drop them off to us too to save on shipping. Right now, we are just doing end of the year holidays (Christmas, Hanakuah, etc) but if you want to include new years cards, that is fine too! The cards will be delivered only to men and women who are deployed, either on ship or overseas to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Thanks for posting this Ms Trey! I have cards already
![]() I think it's nice for those waiting home to receive a holiday card from their love ones serving our Country. They don't have Hallmark's stores or the accessibility to get cards to mail out so that's where we help ![]() If you are interested on helping just let us know! The more the merrier! Can you imagine all the smiles we will bring to those families waiting at home?
