Just curious about getting station overseas? - OCONUS (Over Seas)

We were stationed in Hawaii for 3yrs and than to Cali. We really want to go back but in the process of moving out of Hawaii I became pregnant with our 4th child, I heard not sure if true my DH is still finding out because we are up for orders soon, is that the navy pays only for up to 4 dependants does anyone know if that's true or is there any loop holes around it? We've made lots of friends and contacts in Hawaii outside military and we enjoyed it and my children loved it so I'm not sure how that works with the navy? We are only one ocean move away

this is true- unless your DH is an officer or a higher ranking enlisted you will most likely NOT be allowed to move ANY where overseas, sorry.

Makes no difference in the Air Force. DH has a buddy here (or was here) that had seven kids.

OCOLA is limited to 5 dependents if that is what you mean. There was a family here in Korea with 10 kids but they were army, not sure about navy, we only have 2 boys.

We'll find out if we got orders to Hawaii this weekend, dh put in for the USS Chafee based in Pearl Harbor.

There is a family of 8 here at our shop. But we are AF so I dunno...

In Hawaii, there was a family of 10 in DH's command. I've also seen families of 6+. They were all Navy.
The families I'm thinking of were E-7 and above...

a reminder- you can HAVE as many as you want overseas- but if you leave and try to come back they will deny you.

I have a friend who was stationed in ak for 10 yrs- in that time they had 3 more kids- they got transfered and when they wanted to go back they were denied.

I have another friend who was navy - went to HI with one child- stayed for 12 yrs had 5 more kids- they left and went to VA for 3 yrs, they tried to go back and were denied.

so all those with that amount kids- may not have ARRIVED with that many.

Not sure, maybe it is a limit on COLA dependents but you could actually have more? Please share if you do find out for sure!
