okay i have done this, so i can help you. i came over to italy when my then fiance got back from iraq in july on my tourist passport. we then went back to the states to get married. and i came back over on my tourist passport. (which you can only stay in the country for 90 days on your tourist passport) you can apply for a visa during the time your staying with your husband overseas. you will have to have command sponcership to take with you to the passport office and be on his orders. (he can do all that through his company) when you go to the passport office they will tell you "technically" your not suppose to be there on your tourist passport. and YOU WILL have to leave the country and come back in once you get your visa. IF YOU DO NOT LEAVE THE COUNTRY AND COME BACK IN ON YOUR VISA IT WILL NOT BE VALID. so it is a lot more trouble to do it that way, but it was worth it for me to be with my husband after a year and a half of him being gone. if you have any other questions please private message me, i'll be happy to help anyways i can. i wish you the best
and i hope this helped a little bit.

You can but I wouldn't recommend it. If you get the VISA in the states it costs a couple of hundred dollars, if you get it here in England it is around $1200! Also, when you go through immigration they are going to ask you how long you are in England for, if you say you are here with the American Forces the first thing they are going to do is look for your VISA in your passport. If you don't have one they can put you on the next plane back to the States. If you lie and say you are here to visit, so you can get past immigration they can ask for your return ticket.
I know people who have been denied entry because they didn't have a VISA or a return ticket and I know people who have made it through immigration just fine. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. |

Are you on the right website? I noticed you said it didn't say anything about UK visas, but the website I got mine from was http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/.
If you get it in the states, it's $390, vs over a grand in the UK. I would get it here. If you have your passport and medical clearance and all, your visa should only take about 2 weeks. Do you live near a base? You could go to the passport office there. I have heard of people coming here and then trying to get their visas and it can be done, but it's a lot more expensive and you'll be paying out of pocket at first.
